KUTOKA MAMTONI - YMCMB TO SIGN LIMB BIZKIT

Lil Wayne revealed, last Friday (February 24), that Cash Money Records had just signed rap/rock band Limp Bizkit. It was surprising, being that the label is mostly hip-hop focused, but YMCMB has signed a slew of acts over the last several months ... so, what's one more?
Label co-founder Birdman spoke to XXLMag.com this week, explaining how the deal came to be, where he revealed that frontman Fred Durst reached out first.
"Fred [Durst] reached out, bruh," the hip-hop mogul said. "It was weird how it happened. He was like, 'Stunna, what's good?' I was like, 'What's poppin, 5?' [Fred said] 'I wanna join the team.' Whoa! For real? He didn't have to say it twice. I was already a fan of him.
"When the opportunity came, we really was supposed to announce it at the Grammys. Wayne was going to announce it at the Grammys, but he did it when he felt like it," Stunna continued.
Birdman also told XXL that Limp Bizkit's first single will feature Lil Wayne, and said it's set to drop next week.
"He's a visionary, he a great artist," Birdman said of Durst. "Also, I want him to be a part of our staff and take over the rock department and bring us over more talent because that's what he does. I think with having Limp, he brings a lot."
Before reuniting for 2011's Gold Cobra (their sixth studio LP), Limp Bizkit had went on a hiatus following the release of their 2005 project, The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1). Cobra received mixed to positive reviews when released, and sold just over 63,000 copies, peaking at #16 on the Billboard 200.
Last December, Durst announced the band's departure from Interscope to go the independent route... but it looks like that was short-lived.
At press time, details about their Cash Money Records debut was unknown.
